Nobody is coherent

Stop asking other people to be coherent all the time, stop asking the impossible.

At least once in their life, every human being in the surface of the earth, in some area of their life has been, in different levels, somehow, incoherent, because nobody is 100% coherent 24 hours a day, in everything that say and do.

How many times have you seen people getting criticized, usually in social media, for acting in a certain way in a specific situation and the person that criticized would have done the same, if he/she was exposed to the same situation?

In the last couple of weeks, I have tried to learn a little bit more about the fashion world, in order to understand how it can be more sustainable. In that process, I noticed that even in that topic where I’m a huge advocate of sustainable fashion, I’m also not coherent. How incoherent is it for me to defend the importance of sustainable fashion and have clothes from Bangladesh in my closet?

I think that knowing where we are incoherent, is a very important step when we are giving a lot of thought about a topic and we want to have a say and do something about it. A lot of time, we question the outside world and forget to question ourselves and it’s very important to do both at the same time, to be able to act on those two fronts and not tell others to do or change things, that you don’t even do yourself.

Knowing that is impossible to be 100% coherent at any given subject, is the first step to beginning to find our own incoherences, in order to not only get better myself but also to better understand others and stop judging them.

So, even knowing that 100% coherence is impossible, for me, it continues to be very important to educate myself, try to be better every day (to myself and others) and share that journey and its small and big learnings with others.

I’ll finish this text adding one more sentence to the title: Nobody is coherent, but every day I have an opportunity to try to be it a little more.
